NSA helps L.A. Care Health Plan build strategic partnerships with public and nonprofit stakeholders across the Greater Los Angeles region.

For a decade NSA has worked with L.A. Care Health Plan - the nation’s largest publicly operated health plan serving more than 2.4 million members. During that time NSA has provided L.A. Care Health Plan with strategic partnership support in an effort to advance its mission to provide access to quality health care, resources, and services to Los Angeles County's vulnerable and low-income residents.

NSA is uniquely positioned to support L.A. Care Health Plan in building strategic partnerships due to the firm’s deep-rooted relationships with federal, state, and local elected officials as well as community-based organizations. These relationships, paired with NSA’s expert understanding of the political, social, and cultural landscape in Southern California, have allowed L.A. Care Health Plan to more effectively meet high-level strategic planning and on-the-ground community outreach goals.

Many of L.A. Care Health Plan’s local outreach goals involve the development and execution of community events, where they offer resources and services to underserved Los Angeles residents. NSA not only manages the development and execution of these events, but also establishes partnerships with community-based organizations as well as elected officials to elevate the events. Typical partnership roles for L.A. Care Health Plan events include event promotion, speaking opportunities, and participation in event activities. Recent events include a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new community resource center in Long Beach, which was attended by Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson and City Council Member Al Austin II, thanks to NSA’s strategic partnership support.

Additionally, NSA helps L.A. Care Health Plan identify and build partnerships that further its high-level strategic planning goals. Such work has led to the development of a long standing partnership between L.A. Care Health Plan CEO John Baackes and California State Assemblymember Miguel Santiago, who represents a district L.A. Care Health Plan routinely provides services in. Additionally, NSA fostered a relationship between L.A. Care Health Plan with LA County Supervisor Hilda Solis’ Office at a time when the organization was putting together a COVID-19 vaccination program and was urgently seeking a community-based health partner in her district who had access to vaccinations when there was limited supply. Once connected, Supervisor Solis’ team immediately introduced L.A. Care Health Plan to an ideal partner and the program was a resounding success, helping vaccinate thousands of eligible Angelenos from underserved areas.
